Watch this webinar to unravel the complexities of microbial identification technologies and their pivotal role in fortifying contamination control strategies within the pharmaceutical industry.
An inaccurate microbial ID not only jeopardises pharmaceutical product safety but can also lead to significant operational setbacks, including production delays, increased costs, and potential regulatory penalties. Implementing the right microbial identification technology affects more than just quality control – it influences the entire operational framework of a facility from disinfection protocols that address concerns with the microbiota, to environmental monitoring (EM) programmes that pre-emptively identify contamination trends.
Watch an illuminating webinar featuring Doug Botkin, Ph.D., Technology and Market Development Manager at Charles River Labs, to explore three cornerstone technologies of microbial identification: phenotypic, proteotypic, and genotypic. Each method offers unique advantages, yet their efficacy hinges on the quality of the reference library and the sophistication of data analysis.
Why should you watch this webinar?
QC microbiology and sterility assurance professionals will emerge with a deeper understanding of how microbial identification technologies can be leveraged to enhance quality assurance, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Dr. Botkin’s insights will help you navigate the complexities of microbial identification, ensuring your operations are not only compliant but also competitive.
Key learning points
Explore how different microbial identification technologies impact:
- Disinfection efficacy: Understand the significance of microbial IDs to ensure that cleaning programmes effectively mitigate contamination risks, including the ability to reliably identify potentially resistant microorganisms
- Strategic monitoring: Trend analyses depend upon accurate data to anticipate and address potential contamination issues before they escalate, preventing costly production delays or work stoppages
- Incident resolution: Gain insights into real-world challenges and solutions related to microbial identification
- Economic considerations: The hidden costs of microbial misidentification, from retesting to product disposition errors, underscore the importance of precision in microbial ID. Uncover strategies to minimise these costs while maximising operational efficiency.
Doug Botkin, PhD, Technology and Market Development Manager, Charles River Laboratories Doug Botkin is a subject matter expert in the Microbial Solutions group, focusing on Accugenix products and services for microbial identifications. Doug has over 24 years of experience in infectious disease research, spaceflight microbiology, and pharmaceutical microbiology, including working as a QC microbiologist at 503B outsourcing, cell and gene therapy, and non-sterile manufacturing sites. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Illinois State University and earned his PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
