Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) has appointed Katarzyna Szymaniec to lead its accredited pharmaceutical training business and align its strategic development with the diverse needs of professionals working within the sector…
She will formally take over the position following a three-month handover period with the incumbent Head of Training, Lyndsey Wright, who retires from the role in August.
“It’s vitally important to us, as an organisation, to ensure that Katarzyna benefits from a thorough introduction to the complexities of the role and has access to my 11 years’ experience with RSSL. This is a business-critical role which is not replicated elsewhere, so investing in a smooth transition at this stage will not only ensure continuity of training services but also lay a strong foundation for future growth,” says Wright.
Szymaniec joins RSSL from Lonza Biologics UK where she was training, development and compliance lead for the process development, analytical services and QC departments. Her 17-year career in the biopharma industry extends from commercial research, portfolio management and risk assessment, through to a more recent focus on managing, designing and conducting training activities to ensure GMP compliance.
“This is an exceptional opportunity for me to apply my broad experience as both a scientist and training facilitator. Having also attended a training course run by RSSL in the past, I have first hand experience of the organisation’s knowledgeable, positive and friendly approach – fundamental values which I intend to maintain as we continue to evolve our offer in line with current and future market needs.
“In terms of technology, for example, our goal is to harness this platform in a purposeful way that adds value to the overall training experience and complements our informal classroom-based sessions led by subject experts. Equally, I believe biopharma has significant potential for rapid growth and this will reveal an urgent need for specific skills and knowledge, so this is also a key target for our future training programmes,” comments Szymaniec.
RSSL offers open and bespoke training courses to professionals in the pharmaceutical sector on all aspects of regulatory, supply chain, GMP, auditing and quality assurance, as well as a flexible Qualified Person (QP) training programme consisting of self-contained modules closely aligned to the requirements of the Joint Professional Bodies study guide.
