Nampak Healthcare announced plans to invest in a new facility in Segensworth…
Nampak Healthcare announced plans to invest in a new facility in Segensworth that would replace and provide an upgrade to the company’s current factory in Portsmouth. As part of the prospective investment and relocation, Nampak Healthcare has started a consultation process with staff to review the benefits of moving to the new modern, purpose-built facilities.
If, following the consultation, the new factory is to go ahead it is envisaged that all 110 current staff will transfer to the new site. It is planned that the new facility will be fully functional by the end of 2011.
The development plans call for a significant capital investment in state-of-the-art printing and cutting and creasing technology to handle the growing workload at Portsmouth and provide scope for further expansion.
“This is an exciting opportunity which will enable us to further develop our cartons business to meet the future needs of the healthcare market”, said Tom Reid, Managing Director Nampak Europe.
The current Portsmouth factory, which produces cartons for the pharmaceutical industry, is housed in two separate buildings which does not allow any room for much needed expansion.
In December 2010 Nampak Limited announced the sale of Nampak Healthcare and Nampak Cartons to Platinum Equity, a global M&A&O® firm specializing in the merger, acquisition, and operation of companies that provide services and solutions to customers in a broad range of business markets. The sale to Platinum is expected to close by the end of February.
