Biogen Idec appoints Kenneth DiPietro Executive Vice President Human Resources

Biogen Idec (NASDAQ:BIIB) today announced that Kenneth DiPietro has been named Executive Vice President, Human Resources. Mr. DiPietro will lead the development and execution of the company’s global human resources strategy, including talent management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, and global human resources operations and systems. He will report to Chief Executive Officer George A. Scangos, Ph.D.
Mr. DiPietro has more than 30 years of experience in both human resources and organizational development, including broad cultural transformation and corporate re-engineering across Global 500 companies. He joins Biogen Idec from Lenovo Group, where he served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources. He previously was Corporate Vice President, Human Resources at Microsoft Corporation and Vice President, Human Resources at Dell Computer Corporation.

At Lenovo, Mr. DiPietro, was responsible for coordinating the acquisition integration of IBM’s PC Business, the successful recruitment of more than 120 senior global leaders, and reengineering the HR function to elevate operating efficiency and capacity. From 2003 to 2005, he served as Corporate Vice President, Human Resources at Microsoft Corporation. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. DiPietro worked as Vice President, Human Resources at Dell Computer Corporation. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at PepsiCo, serving in a range of human resource and general management positions. Mr. DiPietro received his B.S. in Labor Relations from Cornell University.
