Chief executive of NICE to leave role in 2020

Sir Andrew Dillion will be stepping down from his role as chief executive of NICE next year, after holding his position for 20 years.
Sir Andrew Dillion has announced that he will be leaving his role as chief executive of the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) at the end of March 2020 after 20 years in the role.
Taking on the executive role in April 1999, he has led the organisation since it was established.

“NICE has made a significant contribution to improving outcomes for people using the health and care services, and to the efficient use of resources. I feel very proud to be associated with those achievements,” said Sir Andrew.
Sir David Haslam, chair of NICE, said: “The role of Chief Executive of NICE must be one of the most challenging and potentially controversial in British public life. Sir Andrew has carried out this role for 20 enormously successful years and everyone who knows him – whether in government, the life sciences industry or in health and social care – is full of admiration for his calm and skilful leadership.”
Sir David has also announced that he will be stepping down. The NICE Board has said that it will make arrangements to advertise the chief executive’s post during the autumn.
A revision of the processes with NICE are expected to begin in 2020, after Sir Andrew’s departure.
