The 4th annual Stem Cells World Congress and exhibition will be held in South San Francisco, the Birthplace of Biotechnology. This year there are two parallel tracks focused specifically on:

  • Stem Cells in Drug Discovery and Development
  • Regenerative Medicine

This year’s keynote speakers are:

  • Bruce Conklin – Senior Investigator, Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease – Stem cells, pharmacology and cardiovascular diagnostics
  • Thomas Okarma – President, Geron – Human embryonic stem cell therapy: Pathway to the clinic
  • Clive Svendsen – Professor, UW Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Centre – Modeling and treating neurological diseases with stem cells
  • Alan Trounson – President, California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) – Stem cells in drug discovery and development

Other speakers at the event include:

  • Amit Patel, Assistant Professor, University of Utah – Cardiovascular cell therapy
  • Claude Bernard, Professor of Neuroimmunology and Associate Director, MISCL, Monash University – The promise of stem cells as a neuroregenerative approach to the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Lingsong Li, Professor, Peking University Stem Cell Research Centre – S1P regulates migration of mesenchymal stem cells that contribute to liver fibrosis
  • Ana Krtolica, Chief Scientific Officer, SLL Sciences – Development of the multi-stage stem cell carcinogenesis (MSCC) model/drug discovery platform
  • Fang-Xu Jiang, Assistant Professor, Western Australian Institute for Medical Research – Differentiation of islet progenitor Ngn3-expressing cells into insulin-secreting b cells is promoted by inhibition of SIRT1

As well as speakers, the event will of course include an exhibition. This year’s exhibitors include:

  • StemRD
  • TempSys CheckPoint
  • Cell Genix
  • Hamilton Thorne

There are also many supporting partners of the show including:

  • European Pharmaceutical Review

  • The Tissue Engineering Pages

There will also be a poster presentation at this year’s event, the topics for these will be:

  • Cancer Stem Cells
  • Stem Cell Epigenetics
  • Stem Cells in Drug Discovery and Development
  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Pluripotency, iPSC
  • Biobanking

This year’s Stem Cells World Congress is to be held at The Embassy Suites in San Francisco.
