Hummingbird IRB, an independent institutional review board (IRB), has received full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP).
AAHRPP accreditation signifies compliance with the highest ethics, quality and protection standards in human research. To earn accreditation, organizations must demonstrate the implementation of and adherence to extensive quality standards for research across every level of operation. While accreditation typically takes at least two years, Hummingbird IRB was notified of acceptance in less than a year.
“Receiving accreditation within a year reflects our commitment to upholding scientific and ethical quality for research participants and those who benefit from the outcomes,” said Michael Rothman, M.D., president, Hummingbird IRB. “We may not be the largest or oldest IRB, but we provide access to some of the most highly skilled and well-respected members of the IRB community.”
Hummingbird IRB reviews, monitors and approves biomedical and behavioral research involving humans. Working with researchers in academia and the corporate world, the company enables organizations to retain the integrity of research projects while protecting the rights and safety of human subjects. Hummingbird IRB maintains several specialty boards for areas from oncology and infectious disease to studies involving devices and innovative study design. Each board features renowned professionals with specialized expertise, including members who have held leadership positions at the American Cancer Society, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and leading universities.
In addition to AAHRPP accreditation, a recent inspection by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration resulted in a clean audit. Learn more about Hummingbird IRB’s specialty boards, scientific expertise and academic affiliations at www.hummingbirdirb.com.
