Abbott and its philanthropic foundation the Abbott Fund are providing $450,000 in grants and healthcare products to deliver immediate relief to the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. The Abbott Fund is providing $350,000 in grants to CARE, Direct Relief, and the Philippine Red Cross through the American Red Cross. Abbott is donating up to $100,000 of critically needed products, such as antibiotics, oral rehydration solutions and nutritionals, to longstanding partners Direct Relief and AmeriCares.“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastation from Typhoon Haiyan,” said Katherine Pickus, vice president, Abbott Fund. “Abbott and the Abbott Fund are providing this support to help advance immediate relief efforts and address the growing health crisis among those impacted by the storm.”
As part of its commitment to responsible global citizenship, Abbott has a long history of providing humanitarian relief around the world. Most recently, Abbott and the Abbott Fund provided significant support for relief efforts in Japan and Vietnam.
