The Golden Triangle Partnership, a joint collaboration between the three primary UK life sciences and healthcare networking organisations in Cambridge, London and Oxford, today announced at the BIO conference in Chicago that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BIOCOM, the Southern California life science industry association. The MOU actively encourages collaboration between the life science industry in the Golden Triangle and Southern California promoting international member interaction and business-to-business activity.

“The Golden Triangle Partnership represents 80% of the UK life science industry, providing members with real opportunities to network, partner and collaborate,” said Harriet Fear, Chief Executive of ERBI.

The MOU outlines the commitment of each organisation to facilitate cross-ocean investment and partnering by encouraging collaborations between each group’s member companies.

Additionally, GTP and BIOCOM will promote each other’s investment and partnering events to their respective members, as well as offering their members reduced rates to each other’s signature events.

“This MOU builds on the GTP’s existing collaborations with MassBio and MasMEDIC to extend our network to the US West Coast. The intention is to increase deal flow with companies and investors in Southern California by facilitating introductions and presenting opportunities,” commented Tony Jones, Director of the London Biotechnology Network.

“This is an historic initiative linking the Golden Triangle to the hugely active Southern California life sciences community which will provide valuable opportunities for our members,” added Jon Rees, Chief Executive of OBN.

Joe Panetta, President and CEO of BIOCOM commented: “Southern California and the Golden Triangle are the two most active life science clusters in the world. We are delighted to offer our members opportunities to collaborate and partner with the UK’s leading life sciences companies.”
