Species-level microbial identification (ID) is a growing requirement under good manufacturing practice (GMP) to ensure patient safety.
However, this information can also benefit manufacturers. For example, understanding which species are present allows effective risk assessment of the product or during the manufacturing process, allowing for proactive action before a contamination event occurs.
